Show up and Shine in your Plus Size perfection!

Show up and Shine in your Plus Size perfection!

Some tips on getting ready to go to that wedding, and feel great from aisle to after party.

When it comes to weddings, finding the perfect outfit can be A LOT. And, shopping for plus size outfits that are just perfect -well, if you know, you know.  So we gathered a few thoughts to get you started, and hopefully get you to the wedding feeling as gorgeous as your dress (or pants if that’s your thing).  Because here at Amour781 we love to dress up, we’re on a mission to give our customers that “I can’t wait to show up in this outfit” vibe everyday.  So, let’s look at that next wedding, bat mitzvah, dinner party, gala as another chance to shine.

Ashley was interviewed by Women’s Day and pulled together some thoughts to spice up that day;

The Basics

You never want to upstage the bride or be in competition with the wedding party. I recommend asking the bride what her wedding colors are or what color the bridesmaids will be wearing to be safe.

I also think when shopping for a dress you’ll want to keep the sleeve length at top of mind. You want to dress appropriately for the winter season, and we are seeing a lot of long-sleeve options which are so beautiful and elegant, but if you’re a dance floor guru you may want to consider ¾ length or short sleeves, so you don’t get too warm.

One style I recommend staying away from entirely is floral. No matter what the color tones are, it is always going to read the wrong season.

The Tulle Skirt

My personal favorite that I absolutely adore for wedding season is the tulle skirt. We started seeing them this spring and they carried into fall and winter. They are a great way to channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw and have a leveled up ballet look. You can have so much fun with tulle – you can add ribbons and bows, lots of layers, a simple top, a blazer – it’s just my favorite look! Our plus size tulle skirts are light and feminine, and look great on the dance floor.

Sparkles!

Sequins are also perfect for winter weddings. With sequins, you can let your dress do the talking and you don’t have to spend a lot of time thinking about your accessories or your hair and makeup when the dress is going to speak volumes.  Another great thing about sequins is you can get any color and it will look great and appropriate at a winter wedding. We have this saucy sequin dress from GeeGee that is so great for an evening wedding.

Warm up in Velvet

There is something really rich, warm and elegant about velvet and who doesn’t want to feel warm at a winter wedding? It’s great to put on a rich velvet for evening, winter weddings and it photographs beautifully. We have some rich, gorgeous velvet plus size pieces in our collection that I’m really excited about.

Metallics!

The next trend I am seeing is metallics. Metallics have been trending throughout the year and a metallic dress or jumpsuit is perfect for an afternoon wedding that will head into the evening. The light color and lighter material won’t feel too heavy during the day and when the sun sets, it will still look fabulous and playful. I’m loving our Dayton Coverup that compliments just about everything.

The Dressed Up Little Black Dress

Finally, you just can never go wrong with a black slip dress. This is one item that will always be trendy and just effortlessly elegant. If you are trying to save money because of the holidays, you probably already have this number in your closet. And bonus: you can simply add a new necklace and cute shoes to build a totally different look than the last time you wore it. Our princess shiny slingback pump has been really popular this year and elevates every outfit!

Talk to an Expert

Big events can be really stressful, especially for plus size outfits when fit can be hard to gauge online. I would highly recommend a quick online styling session to talk about what to wear.  Amour781 is offering a free styling session in December, it’s out little gift to our customers to help alleviate some stress leading into the holidays.

Have fun out there!
