What shoes are hot in the market, and great for Plus Size Shoppers?
What better way to spice up that outfit already in your closet than fresh new kicks? Ashley, our co-founder, was asked by a reporter recently what trends she’s seeing in shoes next year. At Amour781 we’re committed to curating a great collection of shoes that come in extended and wide sizes for our plus size shoppers.
The School Shoe
This first trend they’re calling “the school shoe.” We’ve already started to see its rise in popularity this fall, and we will continue to see it through the spring. When we say school shoe think updated bespoke loafers and leather lace ups with a nod to vintage. School shoes are a great way to make your outfit just a little bit more edgy or sophisticated. It is so fun to play with that feminine menswear look and these shoes will look great with the tone on tone trend we’ll also be seeing in the new year.
The Sexy Kitten Heel
This next one I am SO excited about – the sexy kitten heel! This shoe is so perfect for anyone that finds themselves thinking, “I wish I could still wear heels.” Now you can! We are going to see the kitten heel everywhere – modified ballet flats, boots -- it’s great because you still get the illusion of the heel and the slight lift to give your legs that length that we all love. Personally, I love the traditional, pointed toe, classic kitten heel that is also making a comeback. These will pair beautifully with wide leg pants to give you that “puddling” look. The kitten heel gives you just enough length, so the shoe just peeks out and the pants aren’t too long.
The Modified Ballet Flat
We saw this next one start to appear in the summer, but we will really see it become a strong trend in the spring – the modified ballet flat. When we say modified ballet flat, it’s not your classic 2010 Tory Burch – which we still love! – but this one is a bit more updated and more intentional ballet. This ballet flat has a strap and a square toe and we are going to see them with a lot of glitz and glamour – encrusted stones, ribbons, just really feminine. They are so easy to wear.
Metallic, metallic, metallic!
There will be LOTS of shimmer and shine in 2024 when it comes to shoes. Denim on denim will be trending for apparel so your shoes will be your main accessory. Having that little sparkle and shine will add some spice to your look. Jimmy Choo has a chrome metallic slip back right now which checks so many of these trend boxes and something like that will be a staple to have in your closet.
Sandals
I think we’re going to see a lot of feminine gladiators. Where before I thought gladiator sandals were very literal and much chunkier and heavier, this spring we will see something a little bit lighter. I expect these to have a nod to the ballet trend again – the lace ups will look more like point shoes versus headed off for battle.
What’s Out?
One thing you shouldn’t expect to see a lot of this year is flip flops. Trade in those flip flops for gladiator sandals or a light, summery mule. Plan to style the mule the same way you would a flip flop. We’ll be seeing a lot of capri/mid-calf pants with a little bit of flair which will look great with a mule. This new look will be casual and easy, just like the flip flop.
The chunky dad sneaker that has been in for a while is also on its way out in 2024. With the slimmer, old school Adidas Samba making a return, we’ll be seeing more flat bottom, slim, sleek sneakers.
